Blogging break

You may or may not have noticed that I paused the blog reel for a while and my blog post well basically ran dry. I was at a bit of a cross roads with what I wanted to put on my blog because I enjoy blogging but the subject of my posts has been an issue for a while. I enjoy reading about beauty and watching beauty youtubers but I just don't think I'm cut out to be a beauty blogger. I would like to include beauty posts on my blog but not all the time so I'm searching for new inspiration. After watching Louise of Sprinkle of Glitter's video "Having Hope" I was inspired to start blogging again more regularly but to include things that make blogging fun for me so here are my ideas:

- At least once a week I'd like to just sit down and ramble about my life at that present moment, whether you chose to read it is up to you but I'm currently trying to think up a title for a post like that eg: "Monday night moaning" but that could be taken quite rude to some of you so that's out the window but you get the jist of what I'm looking for.
- I want to write at least one beauty post a week so that I can still do what I'm interested in but not have it feel like such a chore the way it did before.
- Plan my posts before I write them so I don't ramble just like I'm doing right now because I did no planning.
- Just enjoy it, my blog is like my diary and that's something I need to remember. In a few months/years/centuries I could come back and look at rachel-vs-life and I want it to be something I'm proud to showcase to the entire world.

Now that 'm starting back to school soon my posts are going to have to be written in advance which is annoying but with all that's going on this year in school I just don't want to be stressed out or split my focus so my new blog post scheduele will be posted sometime in the next few days on my "About" tab.

So I hope you continue to enjoy rachel-vs-life and if you have any posts you'd like to see leave suggestions below and I'll try my best to do them.

(if you click my name above it will direct you to my new twitter so if you could follow and tell your friends, your neighbours, your neighbours friends to follow me that would be fab and much appreciated.)

Current favourites!

I've decided not to commit myself to writing monthly favourites because I know I'll never stick to it so every once in a while I will just collect together a few skincare/haircare/makeup items to share with you guys. Here is what I have been loving over the past few months:
Garnier Pure deep pore wash(£2.53 Boots) Simple light moisturiser(£3.79 Boots) Topshop Blush in "Flush" (£6 Topshop) Rimmel Lycra Pro nail polish(£4.59 Boots) Real Techniques expert face brush(£9.99 Boots) MUA Lipstick Shade 7 (£1 Superdrug) Maybelline Pulse Perfection vibrating mascara(£7.99 Amazon) Osmo Deep Mositurising shampoo and conditioner(£14.20 feelunique.com) Garnier Refreshing Gel-Cream(£2 Boots)

(Sorry about the flash but it's so hard to photograph gold packaging) This combination is incredible. I have very heat damaged hair and thought that a deep mositurising shampoo and conditioner would do wonders for my hair and I wasn't wrong. They left my hair feeling lightweight and the conditioner was especially good, the ends of my hair were super soft I just wanted to run my hands through it all day. While washing your hair the products do have a strong scent, it's not a bad smell (infact it's quite delightful) but it is strong although it's not noticeable when you're hair is dry.

This mascara is by far my most used of the past month or so. I'm not a fan of the vibrating feature as I don't feel like it does anything for my lashes, it simply doesn't vibrate strong enough to have any noticeable impact but the brush and the formulation are wonderful. It's not flaky, it doesn't smudge, it will stay put all day and it adds a lot of length and volume.

I chose to talk about the 2 skincare items together. First, the moisturiser. The main reason I purchased this was for the promise "absorbs instantly" and I wouldn't say it was "instant" but substantially quicker than any other mosituriser. I have the grape scent and it smells super fresh and it's nice to apply. Next, the deep pore wash. This works wonders for my skin. I use it every 2-3 days and if I miss even 1 session of using it I would breakout or get bad dry patches so it just keeps my skin under control. It has microbeads in it to exfoliate which helped with the dry skin on my face and I just LOVE this product.

I'm really enjoying the Simple light moisturiser because it does exactly what it promises without being too greasy so I can use it everyday. My MUA lipstick has been a favourite of mines for a while because it is a very wearable colour for a natural look and it is shimmery but not too much plus it smells really nice which is important to me because you can smell it all day as it's right under your nose.I've been loving the Topshop cream blush because I absolutely adore the formulation. Usually I'm a bit scared of cream blushes but the cream-to-powder formulation of this makes it easy to work with although I wished I'd have picked a slightly more subtle colour.(That's just an excuse for me to go back and buy another). Lastly, of course everyone in the beauty world loves the Real Techniques brushes but my favourite has to be the "expert face brush". I find it so useful for everything. I use it for foundation, cream blush, highlighter and bronzer(which explains why it's so dirty in the picture ew gross)

I have not stopped wearing this nail polish for the past few months, I switch it up for a few days but I always go back to my trusting Rimmel Lycra Pro in 440 "orange bliss". It's the perfect bright orange/coral(it shows up more red on camera but it's more orange than it appears). It has the wide brush for mistake free application which is important to me because when I paint my right hand it usually goes everywhere so I find the maxi brush very useful. I'm going to have to go get myself some more colours.

That's it for my current favourites, I hope you found this post informative and sorry if it's a bit long!
Until my next post,

p.s April favourites will be my next blog post and it'll be my first favourites blog post so I'm SUPER excited, watch out for that!

I'm an awful vlogger!

I attempted to make some interesting vlogs for you guys this week but on Friday I was super busy with "Gig Night" so even though I was planning to vlog I couldn't (cry) but I thought I'd redeem it by making a cool vlog for Saturday.
"Where is that cool vlog?" you might ask. Well, basically I am an idiot and an amateur and I left my camera at home.

Today I:

  • Went to my dance/drama classes
  • Got my second piercing in my left ear (ouch!)
  • Walked practically all over the city centre to find somewhere that my friend Shauna could get an industrial bar piercing but sadly no luck for her.
  • Ate subway
  • Went home and chatted to my sister about childhood memories with her (super nostalgic)
  • Socialized with my cousin Chloe
  • Watched youtube videos
  • Wrote this post

So as you can see the start of my day would have made a great vlog, that is if I had remembered something to film it on but I solemnly promise now that next weekend I will make super interesting vlogs because on Friday I am going to a play that my friends are in called "West Side Story" then on Saturday I am taking a trip to Dublin for the final of the Irish Youth Music Awards and on Sunday I am volunteering at a show doing some Front of House/usher type things i.e greeting the audience, tearing tickets at the door etc.

My lack of post ideas is so upsetting too, I'm so unimaginative so if you have any suggestions give me them:)

I've caved!

I've caved in and got myself a "Naked 2" palette on the plane home from Italy (did you know there's a such thing as "sky shopping"?) which was convenient. I must admit though that I've used it everyday since I got it and it is rapidly becoming a holy grail product for me.

My 3 most worn shade are "foxy", "booty call" and "snake bite". I use them for the perfect everyday subtle smokey eye which is my favourite look.

Also, I got a free mini "lip junkie" with it which I also love. It is a lip plumper so it gives that tingly feeling that some people don't like, but I do. I may even have to buy the full sized one.

Overall I'm so happy I purchased it because I know I'll get so much use from it and now when bloggers/youtubers use it in tutorials etc I'll be able to participate instead of using the dupes.

Hi, I'm new

I'm new to blogging, in fact this is my first post. I watch a lot of youtubers though and almost all of them have blogs so I decided to make one and find out what I was missing.
Most of my posts from here on are probably going to be beauty and fashion related so if you're interested in that field then be sure to check out my blog.
